Would You Like to Shoot on a Star? YES!
2002-08-13 - 8:50 a.m.

Meteors rule!!

I fulfilled my life-long dream of seeing shooting stars, and the atmosphere was pretty damn cool for doing so too. I went to the beach last night with my roomie Kristen and Daniel to see the streaks in the sky, and there we met up with a whole pack of SCADites, who were anti-social with and sat kinda away from. I saw my first shooting star straight over the ocean, a huge, unmistakable streak in the night sky, and the others in my pack thought I was lying since I missed it. It was my secret comet (meteoroid, whatever), and I felt special. :-D

We then spent the rest of the night alternately seeing huge ones, just missing them, and gazing at the sky. Eventually, we (Kristen and I) broke into songs from Moulin Rouge, and we did "Come What May" and the "Elephant Love Medley," changing lyrics to stuff like "We should be drunkards!!! We can't do that!" Then we started making up songs on the spot... not quite "Who's Line is it Anyway?" worthy, but I *was* rather fond of "Poo Monkey."

Daniel... augh... Daniel. I loathe him, despise him, detest him. He's incredibly cute, acts incredibly gay, but says he's not. Something in the way he acts makes me think he almost wants me to make some kind of move though- but I can't bring myself to do anything too blatant. And then there's his use of the word "gay" to denote something's stupidity... and then subsequent apologies and arguments over it's fair use... I don't mind it coming from some places, like South Park... but some people obviously do it to push buttons or fuck with my head, and he's one of them. It's like, when certain people say it- it's like they're saying "Yeah, we still associate gay with 'bad' or not accepted, but we like you anyway." Funk dat! I value myself more than that, thank you.

Onto other things... work- work is still work. I like it, still, a lot- I'm learning a bunch about the production end of graphic design, the stuff I needed a lot of practice on to be a solid graphic designer who could do it all if I had to. My only concern is wanting to take a road trip with two (or three) of my friends at the end of the month to the Midwest- a plan that's conflicting with Travis, the other new guy's plans of going home. I'm going to check and see if my friends can delay the trip until the Wednesday after classes end, allowing me to go and have someone responsibly cover me. I might've mentioned it before, but my primary reason for wanting to go would be to see Damien for a day while out there, in Chicago. The rest of the trip, I'm sure, would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience too.

Between now and the last post, there were several beach trips, beautiful skies, nights of wine and video game playing, all kinds of fun stuff... mostly with Daniel. But he's "not gay." This... sets me in a lot of conflicting emotions. Actions shall be taken- I shall be satisfied with myself so long as it's not inaction. Reason for Terror # 82:

Using phrase "da bomb" unwittingly in phone tapped conversations could lead to arrest and beatings by the FBI, local authorities, and hip police.

Reason for Terror # 81:

There was a little bit of mold on that bread you had this morning.

Reason for Terror # 80:

When evening falls, you can try to drive away; but the moon will be following... always following...
